Scientific pitch notation is one of several methods that name the notes of the standard Western chromatic scale by combining a letter name, accidentals, and a number identifying the pitch's octave. The definition of scientific pitch notation in this article is that proposed to the Acoustical Society Of America in 1939, where C0 is in the region of the lowest possible audible frequency.

subscript & superscript

Please pardon the bad words... it has nothing to do with this subject except that it just happened to be a good example that I found and was curious as to how it was done.

Question:
How do you make tiny words?
I've tried looking it up but i can't figure it out. How do you make tiny words like this:
ᶠᶸᶜᵏᵧₒᵤ or ᴸᶤᵏᵉᵧₒᵤ ?

They told me this but i dont get how to do it? :

For the upper text, enter: Lalala!
For the lower text, enter: Lalala!
and
hit "ctrl" and "+" at the same time for subscript. hit "shift" "ctrl" "+" at the same time for superscript

both of them dont make complete sense to me & how to do it. Help please..

Answers:

 Best Answer:   = superscript
subscript

It depends what application you are using, Microsoft Word or some other word processing program, but basically they all do the same thing. You need to hit "superscript" to get the letters above the line and "subscript" to get the letters below the line. Usually these are accessed from a button on your text toolbar (where the font, bold, italic buttons are located). If the button is not visible you might need to customise your toolbar.

The CTRL + thing might be a specific shortcut but whether or not it works depends on the word processing program you are using.

English Word ~ Putative

Definition of putative.
1 : commonly accepted or supposed.
2 : assumed to exist or to have existed

Example:
Although the RKO Picture version of the Tarzan yell was putatively that of Weissmuller, different stories exist as to how the Tarzan Yell was created. Many speculate that a man named Lloyd Thomas Leech was the original voice behind the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Tarzan Yell. He was an opera singer from the 1940s into the '60s, winning the Chicagoland Music Festival on August 17, 1946, and going on to sing throughout the U.S., touring with several opera companies. There are recordings of his recollections of creating the Tarzan yell, a story supported by his children and grandchildren.[1] According to the newspaper columnist L. M. Boyd (circa 1970), "Blended in with that voice are the growl of a dog, a trill sung by a soprano, a note played on a violin's G string and the howl of a hyena recorded backward." According to Bill Moyers, it was created by combining the recordings of three men: one baritone, one tenor, and one hog caller from Arkansas.[2] Another widely published notion concerns the use of an Austrianyodel played backwards at abnormally fast speed. But Weissmuller claimed that the yell was actually his own voice. His version is supported by his son and by his Tarzan co-star, Maureen O'Sullivan.

===.
A comical version of this yell was performed by Ray Stevens in his 1969 novelty hit "Gitarzan".

Ray Stevens - Gitarzan (Original)
"Gitarzan" is from the album called Gitarzan and was Rays' fourth studio album, released in 1969, as well as his second for Monument Records. Unlike his previous album, "Even Stevens", this album is completely in the genres of novelty and comedy. Although this is a true studio album, all of the songs are overdubbed with cheering and applauding of an audience to provide the feeling of a live album.

===.
Ron Ely Tarzan Call
Ron Ely who played Tarzan in the 1966 TV Series performing the iconic Tarzan yell. Sounds a lot like the Johnny Weismuller version - dubbed over perhaps?

Tarzan Joke:
TARZAN YELL - Johnny Weissmuller at RKO Studios
When Johnny Weissmuller changed studios, from MGM to RKO, his famous Tarzan yell changed too. Luckily for Tarzan, the elephants could still understand him...

Comments:

John Molloy
The RKO studios bought Weissmuller's contract from MGM, but MGM wouldn't sell Johnny's original and most famous Tarzan "call". Being a champion yodeler, Johnny just came up with another one, which wasn't as good , but wasn't that bad either.

Bert Lambert
2 months ago (edited)
Johnny insisted that he will do his own Yell since he did not like the Yell that was made up for him...so the productions went on afterwards with his very own yell..the rest is history..Now...MY GOOD FRIEND..Jerry Skinner ..the best biographer..TAKE over from here...

Rene Bruckner
Yes, for his later RKO movies like this one, Weissmuller recorded his own voice. For the earlier MGM movies, the yell was manufactured and really no one knows for sure whose voice(s) it was made of, or if it was even human.

Happy Birthday Dad!
~ 2016 February 17

So strange. My colleague came over to my table and commented that the Fan on my table was a very good brand (KDK). I told him my late father also said the same thing. I told him that this Fan was definitely more than 12 years old because Dad died in 2003, and we had this Fan for a very long time (maybe 5 or more years). He calculated that this Fan could easily be more than 20 years from the time previous owner bought it, say 5 years, to the time Dad picked it up and repaired it. Happy Birthday Dad!

Today's Prayer is dedicated especially to Dad.

Daily Prayer
~ February 17, 2016

Our Father in Heaven, Holy be Your Name... we come to you with a heart contrite and humbled, have mercy on us, O God, in your goodness; in the greatness of your compassion wipe out our offense. Thoroughly wash us from our guilt, and of our sins.

Amen.

Truffles: The Most Expensive Food in the World

Truffle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

truffle is the fruiting body of a subterranean Ascomycete fungus, predominantly one of the many species of the genus Tuber. Some of the truffle species are highly prized as food. French gourmet Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin called truffles "the diamond of the kitchen".[1] Edible truffles are held in high esteem in French, Georgian, Greek, Italian, Croatian, Middle Eastern and Spanish cooking, as well as in international haute cuisine. Truffles are ectomycorrhizal fungi and are therefore usually found in close association with the roots of trees. Spore dispersal is accomplished through fungivores, animals that eat fungi.

Etymology

The origin of the word truffle appears to be the Latin term tūber, meaning "swelling" or "lump", which became tufer- and gave rise to the various European terms: Italian tartufoFrench truffeSpanish trufaDanish trøffelGerman TrüffelSwedish tryffelDutch truffel,Polish truflaCroatian tartuf / тартуф. In Portuguese, the words trufa and túbera are synonyms, the latter closer to the Latin term. The German word Kartoffel ("potato") is derived from the Italian term for truffle because of superficial similarities.[2]

Biology

The mycelia of truffles form symbiotic, mycorrhizal relationships with the roots of several tree species including beechpoplaroakbirchhornbeamhazel, and pine.[3][4] They prefer argillaceous or calcareous soils that are well drained and neutral or alkaline.[5][6]Truffles fruit throughout the year, depending on the species and can be found buried between the leaf litter and the soil.

Phylogeny

The phylogeny and biogeography of truffles was investigated in 2008[7] using internal transcribed spacers (ITS) of nuclear DNA with five major clades (Aestivum, Excavatum, Rufum, Melanosporum and Puberulum); this was later improved and expanded in 2010 using large subunits (LSU) of mitochondrial DNA to nine major clades. The Magnatum and Macrosporum clades were distinguished as distinct from the Aestivum clade. The Gibbosum clade was resolved as distinct from all other clades, and the Spinoreticulatum clade was separated from the Rufum clade.[8]

The Truffle Mystery: Is it Worth it?
by Zyra Manto
September 28, 2015

Truffle season is just around the corner and I bet truffle lovers are itching to feast their palates with this infamous ingredient even if that means cashing out $100 a plate, sometimes even more.

Yep, you read that right. Way too much money for a freaking fungus!

But, hold up! Before you speak out profanities or judgments, let me enlighten you about truffles.

Truffles are underground version of mushrooms. It resembles small potatoes often between the size of a golf ball or marble. While none are declared to be poisonous, only a few of them can be considered a delicacy.

Truffles are always below the ground, and are harvested through the aid of truffle dogs or female pigs. Truffles produce a certain scent (similar to that of a male pig sex hormone), hence the use of female pigs, and it is not until recently that dogs are trained and used for harvesting.

In addition to that, truffles are rare. White truffles are available only a couple of months in a year, almost exclusively from Umbria and Piedmont, Italy.

Black truffles, also called as black diamond, can be found in Perigord, France.

The complexity of the whole process (this is before it's imported) definitely influence truffles’ price.White and black Truffles are notoriously expensive, with a market price of $2,000-3,600 per pound.

As to its aroma and taste, renowned chef, Alex Guarnaschelli, describes truffle as "disconcerting" conjures up images of a locker room. But the aroma deceptively conceals their complex yet delicate taste. They are sublime.

Truffle seems to make everything better and is no doubt a quintessential culinary ingredient as it distinctively flavors and enhance pasta, salads, sandwiches, soups, risottos, fish and shellfish the possibilities are endless.

Bottom line, whether truffles are worth the price has got a lot to do with how you like to spend.

Here are a few delectable dishes served with truffle:

•► Truffle Pasta

•► Eggs with Black Truffles (Brouillade De Truffes)

•► Truffle Mac n’ Cheese

•► Truffle Meatballs

•► Truffle Pizza

Have I convinced you yet? No? Well, I tried.
